Nottingham Forest are eager to bolster their attack this summer as Oliver Glasner targets a striker to help the Reds in their Premier League campaign.
Nottingham Forest are in direct talks with Chelsea over a move for Liam Delap amid further speculation over the striker’s future. Delap was left out of Chelsea’s victory over Fulham last night with the former Ipswich forward destined to leave Stamford Bridge before the window closes.
Forest manager Oliver Glasner wants another forward to beef up his attack after Taiwo Awoniyi left for Coventry City earlier this window and are now in “contact” with Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano. Another wing-back is also expected to come through the door at the City Ground with Forest boss Glasner targeting two high-quality additions before the close of play on September 1.
“The club is working very hard to get these deals done,” the Austrian head coach said. “I’m very confident that we will get in two more high-quality players.”
Delap’s Chelsea’s team-mate Nicholas Jackson is also on his way out of Chelsea after he spent a spell on loan at Bayern Munich last season. Chelsea have revamped their attack this summer with the addition of Danny Welbeck while Joao Pedro is the preferred option up front.
Delap was a £30m signing for Chelsea last summer and played 41 times for the Blues scoring three times. He made just 12 starts in the Premier League but featured in another 16 games as a substitute. Speaking about Delap earlier this summer after a match against Western Sydney Wanderers, Alonso praised his efforts in pre-season.

“Every player that is involved is doing well, Liam as well,” he said. “It was 60 minutes when he had to battle hard against the centre-backs, a good few lay offs, so he’s doing well and preparing for the season.”
Asked whether he believed Delap was struggling with his confidence, Alonso said: “I see him in a good mood, in a good desire to get proper fitness, proper football feeling good, and he’s doing well.
